Initially, the client decided to name the event Education Awards and began their branding efforts around this name. However, at School Saarthi, we recognized that the event needed a name that stood out and truly captured the essence of its purpose. It was about the celebration of reading as a core value. We faced two significant challenges: first, to create a name that resonated with the cause of promoting reading, and second, to ensure it connected with the various stakeholders—teachers, parents, and schools—who play pivotal roles in encouraging these reading habits.
In addition to the name itself, we had a responsibility to make sure the event’s visual identity matched its unique significance. The branding had to clearly convey the passion and dedication behind this initiative, while also reflecting the honor and recognition it was designed to bestow upon those making a difference in cultivating reading habits.
At School Saarthi, we have a deep respect for the creative process, and based on our past experiences, we know that honoring this process leads to exceptional results.
Through our exploration, we discovered how the legacy of reading has passed from one generation to the next. This understanding inspired us to reflect on the symbolic visuals associated with reading throughout history.
Delving into history, we discovered that books and lanterns are not just mere objects; they are symbolic visuals representing enlightenment and the quest for knowledge. Many have studied under the soft glow of a lantern, an image that evokes the spirit of learning. To make this symbolism relevant to today’s world, we transformed the lantern concept into something more contemporary, swapping it for a torch—an emblem of guidance and illumination.
With a commitment to minimalism, we designed the event’s branding around the torch and book icons, aptly naming the event Reading Torch. This title encapsulated the essence of our mission: to shine a light on reading and those who promote it. In our creative and videos, we extensively utilized themes of light, like Train Lights, Lamps, and Lanterns emphasizing that teachers, parents, and stakeholders are the guiding lights that nurture reading habits in our youth.
Through this thoughtful process, we crafted an identity for the event that not only reflects its purpose but also honors the legacy of learning and the pivotal role it plays in shaping futures
